General Description

Sewerage Catchment:

  • Bellambi Point outfall is the discharge point for the Bellambi STP, which services a predominantly urban catchment from North Wollongong northwards to Wombarra.

Sewage Treatment:

  • Bellambi STP uses a primary treatment process with chemically assisted sedimentation used during wet weather (MHL769). A chlorination-dechlorination system was commissioned in late 1996.

Outfall:

  • The outfall is located on Bellambi Point and consists of a pipe concreted into an excavated channel in the rock shelf and extending approximately 150m offshore onto a submerged reef. The bottom level at the end of the outfall pipe is 1.8m below mean sea level with the top of the pipe being at low tide level (Patterson, Britton & Partners, CEE & AWT 1998, MHL769 1997).
